When originally printed by Eddie Campbell Comics in 2001, Alec: How to be an Artist ended with a "Chapter Fourteen," largely consisting of an illustrated reading list. In Top Shelf's 2009 omnibus, the chapter was replaced by a shorter and more sardonic postscript. The loss did no structural damage to the book in this new context; the five page grid of cover image thumbnails had always felt a bit extraneous.
Those pages aside, though, the original ending had its charm, and Campbell has kindly agreed to let it be reproduced here.
